Genetic test for D-locus (coat colour)

The genetic test for D-locus reveals a predisposition for coat colour dilution. The mutation c.-22G>A in the MLPH gene is tested.

The inheritance of hair color dilution is autosomal recessive.
The colour dilution will thus appear in the individuals carrying two recessive alleles of the MLPH gene. In black-coloured individuals of different breeds, the hair appears gray (blue). In Rhodesian Ridgebacks, dilution is presented by cream-coloured hair compared to traditional red wheaten.

The test can be performed from 0,5-1ml collected blood or buccal swab.
